New Delhi, June 8 : Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sushil Modi will continue as Bihar's deputy chief minister and leader of the BJP legislature party in the state despite a rebellion against him, the party decided Sunday.

"After discussing the issue with party president Rajnath Singh and senior leader L.K. Advani, it was decided that status quo will continue," BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy told reporters.

Following the rebellion in a section of the party, BJP senior leaders M. Venkaiah Naidu and Sushma Swaraj met the the party legislators from the state at the party headquarters here Sunday.
BJP sources said Modi got the support of 35 legislators out of the total of 67 who gave their preferences. Two legislators were absent.
