Patna, (Bihar Times): MPs from Bihar cutting across the
party lines raise the issue of acute power shortage in
the state in Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
The matter was raised during the Zero Hour by Janata
Dal (United)’s Rajiv Ranjan Singh. He said there had
been no power production in the state for the past
nine years as two thermal power plants had been closed
down. He said Bihar is now totally dependent on the
    Central power pool.

He said that while the Centre was to supply over 1300
MW of power, Bihar was currently getting only 850-900
MW adding the state government had petitioned the
Centre to enhance supply from the present level.

Prabhunath Singh of his own party, Devendra Prasad
Yadav of RJD and other MPs from his party also
supported Singh. This happened in the presence of
Railway Minister Lalu Prasad in the Lok Sabha.
