Patna, (Bihar Times): The ruling National Democratic Alliance in Bihar snatched two of the eight seats from the UPA in the elections to the state legislative council. It won five seats while the RJD, CPM and CPI won one each. The Janata Dal (United) got three and the BJP two seats. Surprisingly, the Congress drew blank.

Janata Dal (United)’s Vinod Chaudhary wrested Darbhanga graduates seat from Congress nominee Dilip Chaudhary defeating him by 2,884 votes. Neeraj Kumar of the same party defeated RJD’s Azad Gandhi by 5,026 votes in the contest for Patna graduates’ constituency. The defeat of the two UPA sitting candidates came as a blow as in this hour of crisis in the NDA it was expected to do somewhat better.
