Patna, May 16 :The Bihar government has decided to hold special 'janata darbar' (public meetings) for physically challenged people to enable them to put their grievances before officials and to get them redressed on the spot.

"The government will hold janata darbar for disabled people to provide them an opportunity to lodge grievances before officials concerned," said commissioner of disabled department Maheshwar Prasad Singh.

Singh said the officials would try to solve the grievances of the disabled at the janata darbar itself.

According to 2001 census, there are 1.9 million disabled people in Bihar. The census has revealed that over 21 million people in India are suffering from one kind of disability or the other.
