Patna, May 20 :A Bihar court has framed charges against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Satish Chandra Dubey for allegedly causing a blast at a shop to extort money from the owner, police said Tuesday. The District and Session court in Bettiah, district headquarters of West Champaran, has charged Dubey with criminal conspiracy and under the Explosive Substances Act.

Police said that a case had been filed against Dubey in 1999 by businessman Ramnath Prasad, who accused Dubey of causing a bomb blast in his shop as a threat to comply with extortion demands.

Dubey is the BJP legislator from Chanpattia assembly seat in West Champaran, about 250 km from the state capital here.
