Patna, (Bihar Times): Notwithstanding tall claims new
research students of Patna University were unable to
start their work just because there was no meeting of
the Post Graduate Research Council for the last over a
year.
Now the Patna University has decided to hold the
meeting of the Post Graduate Research Council in all
the streams from May 28 to June 3. The PGRC meetings
are being held after a long gap. For example the
meeting of Social Science stream has not been held for
over a year even though over 150 applications have so
far been received. The scenario for other streams is
more or less the same.

Be it Science, Humanities, Social Science, Commerce,
Law and Education none has less than 20 applications.
Normally the meeting should take place twice or thrice
a year. However, this also depends on the number of
applications received for research work.

Candidates had to wait too long despite clearing
pre-registration test conducted by the University last
year and submission of synopsis. The PGRC could not be
held due to delay in its constitution. This caused a
lot of inconvenience to the candidates.

The standard of research work in Bihar has already
deteriorated. What is more in the last two
appointments of lecturers hardly any NET and JRF
qualifier got job.

The irony is that notwithstanding the Vigilance probe
and going to jail of two former chairmen of the
University Service Commission, Wahab Ashrafi and S D N
Singh, no headway has been made in this direction.
