      | Patna, (Bihar Times): The Union government seems to be
least interested in the debate over the upgradation of
any existing university of Bihar into the central
universities. Instead it has asked the state
government to provide 500 acres of land so that a new
one can be set up at the expense of Centre.

       | While chief minister Nitish Kumar was in favour of
making Patna University the central university the
Magadh University Vice Chancellor, B N Pandey, wants
his institution to get that status. Once the site
selection is done a team of officials from the Centre
would come to inspect it. It is only after its
approval that the modalities would be worked out,
    secretary-cum-commissioner of higher education,
    Sanjeev Kumar, told a daily.
Apart from central university the Union government is
also building an IIT in Bihar and an international
university is also coming up in Nalanda.

comments... This is good news that central government interested for giving satus of central university in Bihar. I think Magadh university deserve for central university from every point of views.  If central government not interested to upgrade any existing university then near Bhagalpur "Bikramshila university" is the best name and site for central univsersity because it was one of three famous ancient international university in the world at the "Ashoka" time. It also covers other parts of Bihar to develop. Localised development is not good for future. Development should be universal and wide so, it cover more parts of Bihar.   Thanks to Bihartimes for providing web news.     Sam Prasad samprasad94@yahoo.ca |
