Bihar Women Hold Mock Trial of Thackerays, Give Them Death Penalties

Patna, (Bihar Times): On the occasion of theInternational Women’s Day on Saturday activists of the Rashtriya Mahila Brigade held a mock trial of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh and awarded death sentences to them for the crime commited on the Biharis and other North Indians in Maharashtra.

They cited from various passages of the Constitution and Indian Penal Code to declared Bal-Raj duo and Deshmukh traitors of the country and gave them death by hanging.

Once the ‘verdict’ prononuced the women activists hung the effigies of the Thackerays and Deshmukh saying the nation was a much better place now that the three were gone.

The Brigade gave deadline of April 14 to take actions against the Thackerays failing which they would launch a nationwide agitation to demand for the removal of the Manmohan Singh government.

The Brigade said that more than 50,000 women from all over Bihar would go to Mumbai this year and celebrate Chhath at the beaches. They dared Thackerays to stop them from doing so.

It needs to be mentioned that the Brigade has in the recent months taken up a number of issues related to women. They strongly protested the Nitish government policy to open liquor shops at every three kilometers as they felt it would have a serious impact on women and children.
