Bihar submits 44 DPRs for rural electrification

 

Patna, (Bihar Times): Bihar government has submitted 44 DPRs covering electrification of 14,195 un-electrified villages, re-electrification of 10,508 de-electrified villages and intensive electrification of 6,069 electrified villages with an outlay of Rs 3,345.68 crore.

Giving this information in the Rajya Sabha on Monday Union Minister for Power, Sushil Kumar Shinde, said implementing agencies have reported that electrification works in 12,104 un-electrified villages (cumulatively) have been carried out as on February 15, 2008. They have also reported release of 66,799 rural household connections, including 52,817 BPL household connections in Bihar under Rajiv Gandhi Gram Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY). Bihar has till February 25, 2008 availed Rs 1,288.23 crore under RGGVY.

NHPC, the implementing agency of RGGVY project in Madhubani district, with concurrence of Bihar Government, has submitted two DPRs, one covering electrification of 16 un-electrified villages and re-electrification of 310 de-electrified villages under “Accelerated Electrification of One Lakh Villages and One Crore Households” which now stands merged with RGGVY. This project was sanctioned in March 2005.

Subsequently, NHPC has submitted supplementary DPR of Madhubani district covering electrification of 221 un-electrified villages, re-electrification of 27 de-electrified villages and intensive electrification of 459 already electrified villages which is yet to be approved.

Out of the four blocks, three blocks namely Lookana, Ghoghardiha and Phulparas find coverage in both the DPRs whereas Khutonna is not appearing in either of the DPRs. However, village Khutonna with census code No. 0040200 has been covered in the supplementary DPR of Madhubani district.

Sudyahi and Ghoonsahi villages have also not been covered in both these DPRs.
