Lalu rubbishes Bihar govt’s charge on not providing rakes

Patna (Bihar Times): Railway minister, Lalu Yadav, refuted the state government’s allegation that the railways are not providing rakes for carrying bitumen required for road construction in Bihar.

Talking to the media-persons in Patna on Friday he said the railways have always provided rakes for carrying bitumen required for road construction. He said these charges are baseless as railways have provided rakes whenever requisitions are made by the state government for transport of bitumen.

Lalu said that if there was some delay in filling up bitumen in rakes at any Indian Oil Corporation depot, the Railways can not be held responsible. The Nitish government was 'in the habit of making baseless allegation against the railway ministry.

He said that the railways are only responsible for giving rakes for transportation. He also told newsmen that he had spoken to IOC officials and state Road Construction minister N K Yadav in this connection.

It needs to be mentioned that the beleaguered Bihar’s road construction minister had recently alleged that the Railways were not providing adequate rakes for moving bitumen to Bihar from other parts of the country.
