Patna, (Bihar Times): A large of number lawyers of the
Patna High Court and various civil courts took out a
big procession here on Monday in protest against the
astronomical hike in the court fees. The lawyers
assembled near the High Court and proceeded towards
the state assembly where they wanted to give petition
to the chief minister. But they were stopped by the
    police near Hartali Chowk.
The High Court lawyers have also gone on three days
strike from Monday. The lawyers of Patna civil court
have already been on strike for the last fortnight.

According to the Lawyers' Co-ordination Committee
convener Yogesh Chandra Verma and former president of
Bihar Bar Council Rajendra Prasad Singh most of the
122 associations of lawyers in the state affiliated to
the Bar Council have decided to abstain from work for
three days. This will completely paralyse the
functioning in courts all over the state.

The lawyers wanted to convey the general resentment
among the people as well as the lawyers following by
the multi-fold hike in the court fees through the
Court Fees (Bihar Amendment) Act whose gazette
notification was made on February 8 last.

According to the lawyers if the CM, deputy CM or
governor did not pay heed to their demand, then the
coordination committee would hold its emergency
meeting on April 2 and decide the future course of
    action.
