Supreme Court seeks case diary in Rajvanshi Nagar gang-rape case of Patna

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Supreme Court has asked the Bihar government to send the case diary of the infamous Rajvanshi Nagar gang-rape case of Patna.

The school-girl was gang-raped on June 14 last at 301, Rambha Apartment, in Rajvanshi Nagar allegedly by her boyfriend and five other boys.



The president of Bihar Mahila Samaj, Sushila Sahay, had filed a PIL in the SC through Human Rights Law Network in the month of August alleging loopholes in the investigation of the case.

Sahay said “we believe a few more guys were involved in the gang rape, but, somehow, the investigating agencies have concealed their names. The Supreme Court was convinced on this point and has asked for the case diary from the state.”

A couple of youths involved in the case were close to the powers that be.

The Supreme Court will hold the next hearing on January 14, 2013.

However reports said that trial of the case has already started in a fast-track court in Patna and the next hearing is scheduled for January 5, 2013, when charges will be framed. Patna police, on September 27, had filed chargesheet against all the six accused before the court of CJM Ramakant Yadav in Patna.

Police have charged the six with committing gang rape. Sections like 506, 376(2) (g), 120B, 292, 293, 294, 323, 504 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67 of Information Technology Act, 2000 have been invoked against them. Under these sections, the accused could be sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for a minimum of ten years and a maximum of life term besides being slapped with fine.
