bihar districts in grip of dengue as administration busy in adhikar rally
patna,(bihartimes): even as virtually the entire administrative machinery is busy in organizing the adhikar rally seven districts of the state are in the grip of dengue.
three persons were reported to have lost their lives and 250 others affected by it. patna and bhagalpur are the worst affected districts to be followed by siwan, gaya, samastipur, vaishali, and munger.
though bihar government has set up a high power committee comprising members from health, urban development and public health and engineering departments it is said that it is too little too late.
while two persons died in siwan one death has been reported from gaya. bhagalpur reported 152 positive cases of dengue and patna 67. at least 10 new cases were reported in patna on thursday alone. there is fear of the disease taking an epidemic form in both these places. yet hardly any step has been taken to remove accumulated filth and garbage and dirty water from various places. fogging, which was a regular practice till a few years back, is not done now giving mosquitoes a field day all over the state capital.
while health minister ashwini kumar choubey said the panel set up was entrusted with task of monitoring the disease the irony is that his home town bhagalpur is the worst affected place.
while one ruling party of the state is more busy seeking special status category for bihar, leaders of another, which include choubey himself, are more interested in the gujarat election campaign.
