Police diverted to Nitish’s security at the time of Chhath tragedy:Paswan

Patna,(BiharTimes): Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan and RJD MP Jagdanand Singh on Wednesday visited Adalat Ghat, the scene of Monday evening tragedy, and squarely blamed the chief minister for it.

Ram Vilas said Nitish Kumar made proper arrangements for his Nov 4 Adhikar Rally and ensured the safety of his partymen, but failed to do the same for the Chhath devotees. A murder case should be lodged against the officials under whom the makeshift bamboo bridge was constructed.

He also described the probe by the home secretary an eyewash and demanded a judicial probe into the mishap. He met some of the families of the victims in East Lohanipur and Postal Park area of city.

Jagdanand Singh, on the other hand, said the chief minister of this state is responsible for the tragedy as police personnel were engaged in his security at that time.

He questioned the timing of the inspection of the ghats by Nitish because of which security was diverted towards him and nobody was there to guard the ghats and devotees.
