Nitish’s self-goal perks up Team Lalu

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Sep 27 incident in Khagaria, has electrified the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Yadav. Perhaps never since May 2009 Lok Sabha defeat and Nov 2010 rout in Assembly election has he been so confident and self assured as in the last couple of days. He had been pulling huge crowd in the last two days in Munger and Bhagalpur. He would be at the same venue in Khagaria on Oct 5.

Though RJD’s Parivartan Yatra started on Sep 19, it is in the fourth phase that he actually managed to be in full flow.

Much of this was possible because of Nitish Kumar’s self-goal in Khagaria. Perhaps no statement of the chief minister harmed him as much in the last seven years as the terrible one-sentence in which he publicly complimented Ranvir Yadav and his MLA wife for saving him from the mob. How can a chief minister of any state justify the illegal act? This is the question Lalu is encashing.

In Bhagalpur on Thursday Rashtriya Janata Dal chief drew applause from the responsive crowd as he takes on Nitish, who he says is playing in the lap of the BJP and RSS.

“The BJP, RSS, Nitish Kumar all joined hands in Bihar to displace me...They adopted different strategies for that…Now their relationship is on the verge of collapse,” he thundered.

So being in Bhagalpur it was not out of place to touch the Enta Puja (Bricks worship) of Lal Krishna Advani and the riots which followed.

He made a startling revelation as to how Nitish Kumar government refused to cooperate with the Centre when the latter proposed to set up a nuclear power plant in Nawada. The plea was that the state government can not provide water to it. “How is it that the same government providing water to a private power company, Jas Infrastructure in Banka,” he asked.

If the NDA can demand CBI inquiry into the Coalgate and 2G Spectrum scam why not there be the same CBI probe into this issue. After all Jas Infrastructure belongs to Abhijit Groups and is owned by none else but Manoj Jaiswal.

Lalu reminded the people as to how Nitish had cashed in on all the central government projects brought by him and his colleagues when they were ministers in New Delhi. He also referred to the Ganga bridge built in Bhagalpur during the RJD rule.

Coming down heavily on the plight of the women he said the rapists and those involved in gangrapes are roaming about freely after committing heinous crime even against young girls yet the chief minister talks about empowering women. He had actually empowered the bureaucrats and nobody else.

He made special reference to the Khagaria incident and said that the arrogance of the chief minister would soon be smashed by the people’s power. Referring to the repeated droughts he quoted holy scriptures to state that when Raja becomes papi (sinner) nature too plays its part.

He said he had been quiet all these years and allowing Nitish to function so that people would say that Lalu Yadav is creating touble for him. Now see what is happening. Where is power, not a single MW generated in the last seven years.

There is loot everywhere and no account of Rs 7,000 crore AC/DC bills. Why not CBI inquiry into it? he asked.

He once again accused Nitish Kumar of conspiring against the demand of special status.

Recalling the Feb 3, 2002 public meeting of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Gandhi Maidan he said the then chief minister Rabri Devi, while delivering her speech on the occasion, demanded the special status for Bihar. Vajpayee, who was there to inaugurate several railway projects, in his speech publicly assured her that the demand would be considered.

But, Lalu said, on way to airport Nitish, who was then Railway Minister, told Vajpayee that if the demand is fulfilled it would be the Rabri Devi government which would be politically benefited. Thus at the airport Vajpayee, while talking to media, categorically stated that no special status would be given to Bihar, rather it would only get special package. Even that did not come, Lalu said.

The RJD leader said as to how Nitish Kumar had shed crocodile tears when Muslim youths were arrested from Madhubani, Darbhanga and other places by the police of other states. “How can the state police say that it was not aware of it. This is simply impossible. And if this had actually happened why not lodge a case against the police of that state for violating all rules and norms,” Lalu said adding that Nitish is only befooling the people of the state.
