Girl suicide case: School students torch jeep in Sitamarhi police station

Patna,(BiharTimes): Students of Parsauni Higher Secondary School in Sitamarhi attacked a police station and set ablaze a jeep on on Monday to protest against alleged failure of police in arresting the accused in the suicide of a college girl last month.
Students disrupted academic activities in the school before taking to the streets on Monday morning.

According to Superintendent of Police Vivek Kumar the protesters attacked the police station and pelted stones at it before setting on fire a jeep parked there. Senior civil and police officials rushed to the spot, to pacify the agitators and brought the situation under control.

It needs to be recalled that Kanchan Bala Jha, a student of local Goenka College had committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence on August 23 alleging that she had been subjected to sexual harassment and intimidation by some people. Her suicide note also alleged that local police had failed to take action against the accused despite a written complaint lodged by her.
