if i fail to bring power i would not seek vote: reiterates nitish

patna,(bihartimes): chief minister nitish kumar on saturday reiterated that if he can not bring electricity to the state by the next assembly election he would not seek votes.

inaugurating the loknayak jayaprakash institute of technology at chhapra, the chief minister said what he had already said while addressing the state on independence day at gandhi maidan.

he once again blamed the centre for power shortage and for victimizing bihar. he narrated the difficulties in temporary procurement of coal linkage for barauni thermal power station (btps) adding such a situation does not arise in states ruled by the upa. on the demand for the establishment of a medical college at chhapra by a section of people, nitish pointed out the difficulties and said he had been trying to establish medical colleges at bettiah, madhepura and pawapuri but had not succeeded yet.

it is the seventh government engineering college to be established in bihar and nitish hoped that this engineering college would emerge as one of the best colleges in the country. like the other six engineering colleges, this college would also get affiliation from aryabhatt knowledge university (aku), patna.

he said that he had to meet the union human resources development minister thrice before getting all india council for technical education (aicte) approval for this college.

activists of adi shakti ekta manch demanded payment of compensation and jobs for their land acquired by the jp university. nitish assured that when he would visit saran district the next time, he would have some good news for the people of the district.

the newly-constructed buildings of the college have come up on 41.6 acres of land, which was donated by the jayaprakash university. the building of the institution has been constructed at a cost of rs 40 crore.

it may be recalled that the foundation stone of this institute was laid on february 1, 2004, by the then chief minister rabri devi. prior to the inaugural function, some rjd activists expressed their anguish over the alleged removal of the plaque containing name of rabri devi, and demanded that the plaque be fixed again.
