Bodh Gaya to host Buddhist meet

Patna, Sep 27 (IANS) Bodh Gaya, the birthplace of Buddhism, is gearing up for an international Buddhist conclave that will draw over 300 scholars, opinion makers and tour operators from 30 countries.

"Preparations are in the final stages," Bihar Tourism Minister Sunil Kumar Pintu told IANS.

The first day of the two-day meeting will be held at Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh Saturday followed by the meeting in Bodh Gaya Sunday.

It was at Bodh Gaya, about 100 km from here, that Lord Buddha attained enlightenment over 2,500 years ago.
