patna,(bihartimes): when most of the youths, especially in north india, were preferring to remain confined within the four walls of their house during the chilly winter, eighteen year old faisal latif of patna, was cycling down from srinagar to kanyakumari––a distance of about 4,000 kms. the object was to promote the message of fitness among youths and children.

latif, who did his class-x from st dominic savio’s high school and class xii from dav walmi, set off on his 37 days expedition on december 2 last year. he carried with him only a backpack having a few essential items to keep him company.
his ambition is to become an army officer and conquer mt everest.
to promote healthy living and fitness among children he covered over a 100km daily for 37 days.
he used to travel about 10 hours daily and took shelter at dhabas, temples and other such places during the night. he stopped at several schools and met a number of children during his tour.
he said he wants to spread the message of fitness among the children who have not yet taken to drinking or smoking.
latif had scaled 16,000ft of renok peak in sikkim in october 2012. he now says he wants to stand on the mt everest peak, alone, and without the help of oxygen cylinders.
latif passed his class xii exams in 2012, and dropped a year to pursue his passion.
his father is an officer in danapur division of the indian railways, and mother is a homemaker.
