FAME earning name in Youth Congress organizational clean-up

Patna,(BiharTimes): Foundation for Advanced Management of Elections (FAME) is an independent agency engaged by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi to ensure free and fair elections in the Youth Congress. Of late it has disqualified several leaders, including Engineer Sanjeev Singh from Bihar.

Sometimes back it disqualified the election of Vikramaditya Singh, the son of Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh, Valanka Alemao, daughter of former Goa minister, Churchill Alemao, Ashok Anand of Puducherry and Maninder Singh Dhillon.

Bihar Youth Congress leader Sanjeev Singh is the latest to be disqualified. He had a smooth run till being unofficially declared the winner in the recent organizational election.

But soon after his victory came, his rivals approached FAME, with a complaint against him.

The complaint said, Sanjeev was one of the 245 students who had got admission in various engineering colleges in 1996 through fraud. The CBI had even probed the matter.

However, Sanjeev denied the allegation and said his name does not figure in the CBI charge-sheet. He regretted that FAME did not even hear his side and that it is a clear case of injustice.

He is now planning to approach Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul with a plea to reconsider the decision.

Interestingly, he had unsuccessfully contested the 2010 Bihar Assembly election on Congress ticket from Bikram in Patna district and also held the post of secretary in the previous Youth Congress committee.

Sanjeev now asks if he was involved in fraud why did the party give him ticket. He even threatens to move court.
