Bihar plans solar power with pisciculture

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited (BSPHCL), has been designated by the state energy department to develop up to 150MW of solar photovoltaic (PV)-based projects which are to be set up on the chaur/pond where pisciculture is being undertaken.

BSPHCL is engaged in planning, promoting and developing the power sector in Bihar.

The selected developers will enter into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with both North and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited. The term of PPA will be for a period of 25 years.

Though Bihar has enough of water the production of fish is far less than demand and it has to rely on other states. To enhance the fish production ponds and chaurs have been identified as the focus areas and various central as well as state-sponsored schemes like development of inland fresh water aquaculture and chaur development scheme are being implemented by the animal and fisheries resources department.
