Bihar govt revokes suspension of woman IPS officer

Patna,(BiharTimes): After keeping her suspended for four months the Bihar government on Monday revoked the order of suspension of former Sheikhpura Superintendent of Police Anusuiya Ran Singh Sahu, as it failed to frame charges against her in the stipulated 90 days period.

However, departmental proceedings against her will continue. The officer was placed under suspension on October 8, 2012 on the charge of patronizing mafia elements in Sheikhpura and illegally extorting money through her bodyguard.

Sahu is a tribal from Odisha and her suspension raised several questions as she was SP of the district for just six months.

In her reply to the state government, she had denied the charges, saying she had filed 150 FIRs against mafia elements. Whether or not she illegally made money could be found out by verifying her bank accounts and assets, she had said.

As rules do not allow suspension of any all-India services officers for more than 90 days without framing charges against him/her the government had to revoke the suspension.
