Patna,(BiharTimes): The Economic Offence Unit (EOU) of the state police late on Wednesday raided the residence of former Saran DIG Alok Kumar, at Pataliputra Colony in Patna.
However, reports said that nothing incriminating was found.

ADG (headquarters) Ravindra Kumar told media that no cash was recovered from his house. He also said the EOU also raided the house of a property dealer, Dinesh Sharma, from where some documents pertaining to land deal with Alok Kumar were seized.

The house was raided in connection with a case pertaining to ‘bhayadohan’ (blackmailing) lodged by EOU on January 20 last following a complaint lodged by a liquor dealer of Chhapra, Tunnaji Pandey, in which he had alleged that the DIG had threatened him with dire consequences if he did not pay Rs 10 crore to him. He had demanded money through his dalals (brokers), Pandey had complained. The DIG, his bodyguard and others phone were put on surveillance and Alok Kumar was later suspended.

It needs to be recalled that DGP Abhayanand had referred the case to the EOU, which raided the house of Umesh Kumar, one of the alleged brokers, at Kankarbagh colony and recovered Rs 5 lakh in cash. Following this, an FIR was lodged by the EOU against Umesh Kumar and two others. However, Alok Kumar doesn’t figure in the FIR.
