RJD seeks CBI probe into killing of lieutenant of former Ranvir Sena chief

Patna,(BiharTimes): The killing of Vinod Singh, the mukhiya of Ichri panchayat in Bhojpur district had its reverberations in the state Assembly on Wednesday with the Rashtriya Janata Dal MLAs demanding a CBI probe into it.
Party MLA Dinesh Kumar Singh raised the issue during Zero Hour. Another RJD MLA Raghvendra Pratap Singh said the killing of the mukhiya is a serious issue and could disturb law and order situation.

They sought a CBI probe into the killing.

Vinod Singh was shot dead by unidentified assailants late on Tuesday evening at Ichri village in Jagdishpur sub-division when he was returning home. It is said that he was a witness to Ichri massacre. The deceased was heading Bhojpur district unit of Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh (ABRKM), a body of upper caste farmers. ABRKM is the front organization of now almost defunct Ranvir Sena and is headed by Indu Bhusan, son of Brahmeshwar Mukhiya, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants on June 1 last year. The killing of former Ranvir Sena chief last June sparked off widespread violence in Ara and Patna.

The name of Janata Dal (United) MLA, Sunil Pandey and his MLC brother Ulhas Pandey figured prominently in the killing. Sunil was earlier reportedly associated with Ranvir Sena. But he denies that he was anyway involved in the killing.

The killing of two top leaders of ABRKM within nine months is a pointer to the fact that everything is not all right in the district.

On the other hand the Minister In-charge for Home Vijay Chaudhary said the government has taken a serious note of the incident and those behind it would not be spared.

Meanwhile, reports from Ara said the situation was tense in Bhojpur, prompting the district administration to deploy additional forces to maintain normalcy.

Indu Bhushan, who went to Surat sometimes back, arrived in Ara by mid-noon.
