No rift with JD-U: BJP

New Delhi, Jan 19 (IANS) The BJP Saturday dismissed suggestions of a rift with ally JD-U, asserting that the NDA was strong and coherent.

"The NDA is fully strong and quite coherent. I don't buy the argument that we are having problems with the JD(U)," BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters.

He said: "I just want to say that during elections, many issues are raised. I don't need to comment on this, JD(U) and our relations are very old, we have fought six-seven elections together and are running the government for the last seven years".

JD(U) Friday raked up the issue of the prime ministerial candidate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) again, asking ally BJP to name its leader.

The party's fresh demand came close on the heels of growing speculation that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi now has Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) backing for being the BJP's prime ministerial face, and might lead the party's campaign for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
