Patna,(BiharTimes): Acting on a tip-off, sleuth of vigilance investigation bureau on Thursday raided the house of the transport department mobile sub-inspector, Arjun Prasad, in Nasriganj locality of Danapur in Patna and seized incriminating document revealing moveable and immoveable property worth Rs seven crore.

A team of bureau officials headed by additional superintendent of police (ASP) Ashwini Kumar and DSP Kanishk Kumar conducted a raid on the Ramjichak house of Prasad early in the morning.

Documents of several plots of land at Digha, 11 trucks registered in the name of his son, driver and a family acquaintance and half a dozen luxury cars––one registered in his name another of his elder son Sanjay Kumar––were seized.

According to additional director-general (vigilance), Pramod Kumar Thakur, the four-storeyed building of the mobile sub-inspector was searched by the bureau officials and a disproportionate assets case was lodged against him on the basis of the seized documents.

The documents related to purchase of at least 15 cottahs of land at Ramjichak, Digha Bagicha and Makhdumpur in the city were also recovered. Interestingly, all these purchase have been made in the last six years. The land had been registered in the name of Prasad, his wife Raj Kumari Devi and elder son Sanjay.

Apart from the four-storeyed house, he owns three other houses and a farmhouse in the same locality. His younger son Santosh Kumar runs a departmental store in the buildings raided by the vigilance bureau.

Prasad had joined as a typist in the transport department in 1976 on a monthly salary of about Rs 200. He was promoted to the post of mobile sub-inspector in 1995 and served in Ranchi and Godda–– both now in Jharkhand––and Gaya.

Prasad, who was born in 1957 remained posted at the headquarters in Patna for most part of his service period.
