Indra R Sharma

Om Puri called MPs ‘anpadh’, ‘ganwaar’, ‘nalayak’. Angry parliamentarians moved privilege motion. Speaker has admitted. Are these words unparliamentarian?

Anpadh is one who is not educated. According to Lalu, ‘bidya se buddhi nahin aati, buddhi se bidya aati hai’, that means intelligence does not come out of education, education comes out of intelligence. And all MPs have the intelligence, where as the highly educated Anna team are only educated. Unfortunately, Lalu doesn’t practise the famous Sanskrit sloka that says ‘bidya dadati binayam’ that means ‘education must give humility’.

Ganwaar is one with traits of the villagers. It, in English, can only mean those who don’t know the urban manners.

Nalayak is one who is not conformist.

Why did the two stalwarts from Bihar got so excited. Moreover, the parliamentarians must understand the anger and perception of the people at Ramlila and change themselves by their deeds.

Saturday August 27, was a special historic day for the country. Both houses were discussing a very serious issue that was to decide if Anna Hazare on a hunger strike for 12 days would break his fast. The whole country, for a change, was watching Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha TV channels that day. Both, the leader of the house, Pranab Babu and the leader of opposition delivered one of the best speeches. The others also followed almost with the same gusto.

But when Sharad Yadav came to speak, he decided to play jester for the MPs. He mocked in his typical rustic manner Anna Team members even naming some. He didn’t spare even digital media. Lalu followed Sharad Yadav and kept on entertaining MPs. Many of MPs kept on asking for more. I give below some samples:

“One former police officer is lampooning us…. She will teach us politics…. She has enjoyed the benefits of government service while we have been on the streets and struggled.” Everyone can guess the person he referred. Can he be compared with her?

“People here roam around India Gate with their dogs, eat ice creams and then decide to go to Ramlila.” Will Sharad still hold to his perception?

And in his further exasperation, Sharad attacked at small screen, “Ye dabba has robbed us of our night sleep. Please do something and shut them.”

And look at the Lalu’s advice.

Sab khela NGO ka hai (NGOs are behind everything). Keep NGOs out of Lokpal and the agitation will end.”

At least the actors from the Anna’s stage didn’t say anything so clearly against a particular MP.

Why do the trio of Bihar- Sharad, Lalu, and Ram Bilash keep on self- aggrandizing or play the same divisive cards of injustice to the minority, dalit and reservation every time and every where? Has corruption anything to do with that. Why can’t Lalu and Ram Bilash reconcile that they are failed leaders even in their own state and getting more and more into as historical figures with no contemporary relevance?

And it is not only me who thought so poorly of these two stalwarts from Bihar. Why should the trio keep on tarnishing the image of Bihar?

I wish the parliamentarians give up the idea of taking up the priviledge motion.

It’s good that we have discussion here, I favor any healthy debate. Raj jee has raised valid points, but I feel he has slightly digressed from the original topic. I respect his views, but the original discussion was regarding ‘Anpadh, Ganwar and Nalayak’ associated with the MPs of India. But, somehow he has tried to depict the current situation of Bihar and Nitish as the mail Villain of Bihar.
Well, I can discuss on that as well, but under a different article. First, let us put our views on the original article, which Indra jee had put forth.

1. Can Raj Jee or anyone else deny that our MPs loot every taxpayers money by not allowing Parliament to function normally ? It costs Crores of loss to the exchequer every day.
2. In the last one year or so, the Parliament has not functioned to any good level, and the last winter session was complete wash-out.
3. It’s just like going to office and not doing any work, just do some vendetta in the office and come outside sharing jokes with your colleagues and get a hefty pay package from the pockets of Indian taxpayers.
4. So many important bills are pending in the parliament which needs to be discussed and passed in an appropriate form. The bills pertaining to Industry (like Posco, Arcelor Mittal etc.) is in the range of billions of dollars and is severely dampening India’s economy.
5. These MPs have made Parliament like a place to fight with others and enjoy, not do any creative work for the people of India (which is the paramount objective of Parliament session).
6. What Kiran Bedi or Anna Jee has done is not even an ounce of mistake or crime that MPs perform everyday (whether inside the parliament or outside it). 10 minutes of Kiran Bedi act and 2 minutes of Om puri or Anna jee is very small wrong than the wrongs that the MPs have been doing for decades.
7. I as a normal Indian, I should ask the MPs to produce the account of work that they have done – inside or outside the parliament. People of India should draft their appraisal annually or biannually.
On Paper, the MPs may not be Anpadh and Ganwaar, but most of them are definitely ‘Nalaayak’.

I dare Raj Jee or anyone else to counter me with concrete facts.

These are some headlines of the news published in this portal from late April and May. I've selected some of the headlines only(not very recent ones).

But, for some people (Amit for example) these are one-off situation.
I might be sounding pejorative to them, but you have to take this, whether you like it or else !

I don't think Bihar has changed from the so-called Jungle Raj in qualitative or qualitative or in any manner. The State has become worse,if we leave a fairly good show in maintenance of roads and a reasonably good law and order. The Anna answer to follow. This was for one-offs only !

Dear Valued Bihartimes Members,

I have been following Indra ji for long, he writes very practical aspects of current affairs and is absolutely right when he articulated this article. I would appreciate and request him if he can get in touch with me at my personal email as well (cool687@gmail.com). I really feel enlightened after going through his articles. Absolutely wonderful writing and knowledge – that he possesses.

This is in response to Raj’s Article – Lalu and Ramvilas should be in Jails, not in the parliament. These two guys have already shattered and pushed Bihar to the edge of Bankruptcy. And these two guys still continue to malign the image of Bihar, I have serious objections against these two.
My point of views on your concerns, at the same time respecting your views :
1. Why did Anna jee broke his fast by having juice from the hands of Dalit and Muslim girls? Are the Dalit and Muslim different from others? Why this differentiation?
This is probably the best way to show communal harmony. There is no differentiation, rather its just sending a strong brotherhood kind of feeling to the minorities and dalits. And I have the feeling that you are against minorities and dalits, else you should not have raised a concern that differentiates between caste, religion etc. You sound very similar to Ramvilas as he had also said that some dalits should be there in the Lokpal drafting committee. Let us live in the India of Equality, with no space for caste, religion etc. Every Indian must be equally and respectfully treated.

2.Why not NGO, can you say that NGOs are not corrupt?

NGOs can be brought under the purview of JanLokpal. Kiran Bedi and Arvind Kejriwal have already given this statement on record.

3. Do you have anything to say about the learned Dr. Kiran Bedi's statement?
Learned Kiran Bedi is has done better work for India and Indians than any MP of India. She will be more honest than any MP of India, I can bet on this. These MPs deserve even worse abuses, they have only exploited we Indians and have done very few good works for the country (that too after being put on the pressure by the public).
4. The Parliamentarians may be Anpad, Gawar and Nalayak (the seasoned Actor may be true). But, have you ever pondered over the statement of our Learned Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar - We will have an independent sea port near Gopalpur in Odisha? Does the statement sound constitutional? Is Bihar a republic like Nepal ( a land-locked state) ?
What Nitish kumar has said are his personal word. If looked on a balance, he has done lot of other good works. I really praise him. This could very well be one-off statement, which can be publically debated.
5. What was your reaction after the release of one Brameshwar Mukhiya? Is he the savior of mankind ? What about image of Bihar?
Again, this can be another one-off situation, which shall also be publically debated.

A true Indian, true Bihari and a true Human being.

You articles are very good, precise. I have read your earlier posts also.
Coming to the present article, your accusations/observations might be true. But, I have some questions for you.

1. Why did Anna jee broke his fast by having juice from the hands of Dalit and Muslim girls? Are the Dalit and Muslim different from others? Why this differentiation?

2.Why not NGO, can you say that NGOs are not corrupt?

3. Do you have anything to say about the learned Dr. Kiran Bedi's statement?

5. What was your reaction after the release of one Brameshwar Mukhiya? Is he the savior of mankind ? What about image of Bihar?

Some questions might seem to be out of context. But, they are based on your earlier posts.

I don't want you to answer my questions, because I already have. I just want you to think over them.

Moreover, I just want to update you - Shri Om Puri has apologized for his remarks on parliamentarians and has proved himself and You false !
