Samrat Government Wins Trust Vote, Sets Rs 5 Lakh Crore Development Target

Patna, April 24: (BiharTimes) The newly formed BJP-led government in Bihar, headed by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, on Friday proved its majority in the legislative assembly, winning the trust vote with ease and signaling a stable start to a new political era in the state.

The confidence motion, moved by Choudhary, was passed through a voice vote in the 243-member House. With 202 MLAs backing the ruling NDA, the government demonstrated its commanding numerical strength, leaving little room for uncertainty about its tenure.

Addressing the Assembly after the vote, the Chief Minister laid out an ambitious development blueprint, announcing that his government aims to bring in investments worth Rs.5 lakh crore within a year. The focus, he said, would be on accelerating economic growth, boosting infrastructure, expanding industries, and generating large-scale employment. "Bihar is ready for rapid transformation. Our government will ensure speed, transparency, and results on the ground," Choudhary asserted, underlining his commitment to delivering on development promises.

Marking a historic shift in Bihar politics, Choudhary has become the first BJP leader to occupy the Chief Minister's chair in the state. The trust vote victory is being seen as a crucial step in consolidating his leadership and setting the tone for governance.

The Assembly session also witnessed sharp political exchanges, with the House passing a motion censuring the opposition over its position on the women's reservation bill. The ruling alliance accused opposition parties of lacking clarity and commitment on women's empowerment.

With a strong mandate in the Assembly and an aggressive economic agenda, the Samrat government now moves from political consolidation to governance delivery. The coming months will be critical in determining how effectively the promised investment push translates into jobs, infrastructure, and tangible growth across Bihar.
